Ayatullah Hadavi: As you may know, or might have heard, based on the Islamic guidance, nuclear bombs are not accepted. It has been rejected by the Islamic guidance, because when you're are talking about weapons, the impression and the result of using a weapon should be controllable.
Ted Koppel: Has there not been at least one fatwa saying that it is permissible to use a nuclear weapon as a defensive weapon?
Ayatullah Hadavi: No, even as a defensive weapon it is not acceptable.
